This course is intended for HR personnel and professionals in management roles who work with employment matters and need a basic understanding of Swedish labour law. The course is held at a basic level and requires no prior knowledge.

The course provides an overview of the key principles of Swedish labour law and how to apply them in practice.

You will gain guidance on how to handle legislation and collective bargaining agreements in your day-to-day work. The course covers fundamental areas such as choosing the correct form of employment and understanding how and when an employment can be terminated.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in discussions and share experiences with other participants.

After completing the course, you will have knowledge of the most essential rules within Swedish labour law and how they are applied in practice.

Course content

  • The process of hiring employees
  • The discrimination acts
  • The employer’s obligation to consult with trade unions
  • Termination of employment (individual terminations and redundancies)
  • Rules regarding working hours
  • Employees’ right to leave of absence (parental leave, study leave and annual leave)

Delivery

The course is divided into two sessions of three hours each and is conducted digitally via Teams. It is important that you attend both sessions.
